Arrest Made In a Carjacking with a Firearm

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested and charged a young person from Brampton in a violent carjacking with a firearm.

On Thursday, March 28th, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the victims were standing in their driveway in the area of Countryside Drive and Airport Road in the City of Brampton. At this time, the victims were confronted by an individual armed with a handgun, along with two unknown suspects. 

The suspects demanded money, cellphones, and the keys to the victim’s vehicle, a white 2018 Ferrari Spider. 

The victims complied and surrendered their phones and the keys to the Ferrari. The accused entered the driver’s seat of the 2018 Ferrari and fled the area; the two unknown suspects fled the area on foot, leaving behind another stolen vehicle, which they arrived in. 

A short time later, Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau, with assistance from the York Regional Police Hold Up Squad, were able to locate the stolen vehicle in the area of Finch Avenue East and Neilson Road, Scarborough, where the accused was taken into custody. 

During the arrest, a loaded Glock 9mm handgun was located, as well as the keys to the victim’s vehicle. 

The accused, a 16-year-old male from Brampton, has been charged with the following Criminal Offences: 

· Robbery with a Firearm

· Wear Disguise with Intent to Commit a Criminal Act

· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

· Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

· Possession of a Loaded, Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

· Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, device or ammunition that its Possession is Unauthorized

The accused was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
