Fatal Double Shooting in Brampton

Region of Peel – Officers from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau are currently investigating a fatal double shooting in Brampton.

On January 20, 2022, at 2:00 a.m., police received a call to check on the wellbeing of the occupant of a vehicle in the area of Redcastle Street and Kershaw Street in the City of Brampton. Police located a 23-year-old Brampton man suffering from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound outside of a vehicle.  Police also located a 23-year old Brampton woman inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are treating this as an isolated incident and a case of domestic violence between two individuals that were in a relationship.  Investigators are not looking for any further suspects.

“Our service offers our sincere condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.  It is a heartbreaking demonstration of the realities of gender based violence.  It reinforces the need for our community to continue collective efforts towards ending violence against women.” said Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich.
