Burlington Man Charged With Firearm Offences
Region of Peel – Officers from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged an 18-year-old man from Burlington with firearm-related offences.
On February 3, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Peel Police responded to a disturbance in the area of Destination Drive and Dubonet Drive in Mississauga. The suspect had left the area upon police arrival; however, he was located a short time later and arrested with the assistance of Halton police. As a result of the investigation, a loaded compact Glock 43 9mm handgun was seized with nine rounds of ammunition.
Ahmad Farooq, an 18-year-old man from Burlington, has been charged with the following offences:
- Utter Threat to Damage Property
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition for a Dangerous Purpose
He was held for a bail hearing and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
