Region of Peel – Investigators from Road Safety Services have laid several charges against a man after he fled from a traffic stop.

On Friday, March 10, 2023, at 9:40 a.m., officers observed a heavy tractor-trailer allegedly driving in a “no heavy trucks” zone in the area of Williams Parkway and Dixie Road in Brampton. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and after speaking briefly with the driver, the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Officers did not engage in a pursuit due to the high speeds and threat to public safety.

At 9:45 a.m., officers observed the truck again in the area of Airport Road and Queen Street in Brampton, but upon seeing police, the driver began driving erratically. Officers did not engage with the vehicle. A short distance away at Goreway Drive and Steeles Avenue in Brampton, the tractor-trailer was allegedly involved a collision with another vehicle and failed to stop at the scene of the collision.
