Arrest Made in Kidnapping/Attempted Murder Investigation
Region of Peel – Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged a man from Toronto in connection to a kidnapping and attempted murder investigation.
On Sunday, March 10, 2024, the victim was in the area of Hurontario Street and QEW in Mississauga when he was forcibly taken to a nearby address and held for several hours by the suspect. He was subsequently taken to the Toronto area where he was shot several times.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.
After an extensive and lengthy investigation, the suspect was identified.
On Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, investigators arrested and charged Liban Abdi Siyad, a 33-year-old man from Toronto, with the following:
- Attempted Murder using Firearm
- Kidnapping
- Aggravated Assault
Liban was held pending a lengthy bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
