Charges Laid in Brampton Shooting
Region of Peel – Investigators from the Intimate Partner Violence Unit have arrested and charged a 40-year-old man in relation to a shooting investigation in the City of Brampton.
On Friday, January 20, 2023, just before 10:00 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the area of Candy Crescent and Major Williams Sharpe Drive in the City of Brampton. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located an adult woman that had been shot.
The victim was transported to a trauma centre, and her injuries are deemed non-life threatening.
On Wednesday, February 1, 2023, investigators arrested and charged Orane Byron in connection with the shooting after previously laying charges for arson from an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 21, 2023, in the town of Shelbourne.
Orane Byron has been charged with the following offences:
- Attempt murder
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited/Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Discharge Firearm with Intent
- Point Firearm
- Weapons Dangerous
- Careless Storage of Firearm
- Aggravated Assault
- Possession of Firearm contrary to court order
