Charges Laid in Human Trafficking Investigation
Region of Peel– Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau-Vice Unit have arrested and charged a 25-year-old man from Brampton in relation to Human Trafficking and prostitution-related offences.
In February 2025, officers began an investigation relating to victim involved in the sex trade within the Region of Peel. It is alleged that the accused recruited and exploited the victim into the sex trade and took her earnings. The accused moved the victim across the country over several years.
On March 3, Javon McBean from Brampton was arrested and charged with the following:
- Human Trafficking
- Exercise Control
- Receiving Benefit Resulting from Trafficking in Persons
- Procuring
- Derive Material Benefit from Sexual Services
- Advertising Sexual Service
- Withholding Documents for the Purposes of Trafficking in Persons
- Forcible Confinement
- Assault
- Choking
- Killing or Injuring Animals
McBean was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
