Fines Laid in Mississauga Protests

Region of Peel – Investigators from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have issued fines against participants and organizers stemming from alleged scheduled protests in March in the City of Mississauga. 

It was reported on March 20, 2021, the anti-mask group “Stand4Thee” gathered at City Center Drive and Duke of York Boulevard in Mississauga. Over 100 people were in attendance, and attendees were not wearing masks and not complying with the Reopening Ontario Act (ROA) regarding gatherings.

The following participants and organizers were issued fines of $880 for Individuals Fail to comply (ROA).

A 30-year-old man from Lincoln. 

A 43-year-old from Burlington.

A 35-year-old man from Oakville.

Additionally, another protest occurred on March 23, 2021, at Matheson Boulevard and Hurontario Street in Mississauga, where allegedly approximately 20-30 individuals gathered to protest the Covid-19 protocols for schools.

As a result, the same 35-year-old from Oakville was issued another fine for Individual Fail to comply (ROA).

Investigators are still in the process of identifying additional participants, and fines are pending.

Under current COVID-19 restrictions from the Province of Ontario, Peel Region remains under the stay-at-home order. All gatherings, rallies, protests, and peaceful assembly must follow existing Provincial Regulations and City By-Laws. Tickets may be issued to individuals or organizers who do not comply with this order.
