Charges Laid in Human Trafficking Investigation

Region of Peel– Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau- Vice Unit have arrested and charged a 28-year-old man from Whitby in relation to Human Trafficking and prostitution-related offences.

In March 2024, officers began an investigation relating to victims involved in the sex trade within the Region of Peel.  

It is alleged that the accused recruited and exploited victims into the sex trade and took their earnings. Vice investigators conducted an investigation which resulted in locating a victim being trafficked by the Accused.

On June 3, 2024, Neilton Biggart was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Human Trafficking
  • Exercise Control
  • Receiving benefit resulting from Trafficking in persons
  • Procuring
  • Derive Material Benefit from sexual services
  • Advertisement

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice.

Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau- Vice Unit believe there may be more victims of Human Trafficking and prostitution offences and/or witnesses to this investigation and are urging anyone with information to contact them at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3555.
