March Break Road Safety Campaign

Posted On Tuesday March 12, 2019

Region of Peel– Peel Regional Police will be conducting an extended Road Safety Campaign during the March Break and will continue until Sunday, March 24, 2019. Peel Regional Police are urging motorists to drive safely, responsibly and free from distractions at all times and to be extra vigilant when travelling on roadways.

While school is out this week, there will be an increase in children out and about in the community. Officers from the Peel Regional Police Divisional Traffic Units and Road Safety Services will be diligent in focusing their patrols in residential and other areas frequented by young people. They will be looking to identify distracted and aggressive drivers.

Parents should take the time to review road safety rules and tips and are encouraged to practice these with their children.

Beginning on Sunday, March 17, 2019, Peel Regional Police will initiate a Back To School Road Safety Campaign where officers will visit and patrol areas in and around school zones and school bus routes and enforce any contraventions of the Highway Traffic Act or City By-laws. Those found to be disregarding the designated rules of the road, can expect strict enforcement.

The safety of all road users, including pedestrians of all ages continues to be of paramount concern. Peel Regional Police wishes to remind all road users that road safety is a shared responsibility. Let us continue to work together to keep everyone safe.
