Arrests Made from 2024 Homicide Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau have arrested and charged two individuals connected to a 2024 Brampton homicide investigation. 

In the early morning hours of April 5, 2024, 30-year-old Jevon Harris-Smith was shot multiple times while out in front of his residence in the area of Finegan Circle and Sudeley Lane in Brampton. Two suspects fled in a red vehicle which was later determined to be stolen. The victim succumbed to his injuries and through investigation, it was determined he was not the intended target.

On May 29, 2024, a Young Offender was arrested and charged with:

• First Degree Murder

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

Further investigation identified the second suspect who was arrested on March 12, 2025. Dennis Mclean, 24-year-old man from Toronto was charged with the following offences:

• First Degree Murder
• Conspiracy to Obstruct Justice

Both individuals were were held for bail hearings and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
