Young Persons Arrested Following Carjacking Investigation
Region of Peel – Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged two young persons in relation to a carjacking incident that occurred in Brampton.
On Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, the victim parked his vehicle in the parking lot of a retail store in the area of Torbram Road and Countryside Drive in Brampton. At approximately 2:35 a.m., the victim was approached by two suspects wearing masks to conceal their identity who made demands for the keys to the victim’s vehicle. A brief struggle ensued and the suspects were able to take the victim’s keys and fled the area in the victim’s vehicle.
Later in the morning, the victim’s vehicle was located by Police in the parking lot of a local high school in Brampton. As a result, two young persons were subsequently taken into custody.
A young person was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Failure to Comply with Release Order
A second young person was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Disguise with Intent
- Robbery
- Failure to Comply with Sentence Order X2
The high School was placed in to a “Hold and Secure” which was lifted after the arrest.
At the time of the arrest, both young persons were on judicial releases in relation to previous violent offences. Both young persons were held for bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.
The investigation remains active and police anticipate more charges could be laid.
