Region of Peel – Peel Regional Police provides an update of calls for service during the summer months.

Peel Regional Police answered more than 177,000 calls and responded to over 60,000 incidents between July and September of 2024.  These calls vary in severity and range from noise complaints to weapons calls to fatal collisions and homicides.  The following is an overview from this period:

  • 46 shooting incidents resulting in 19 people being injured
  • 51 firearms seized
  • 28 arrests, many of whom were on a form of court release on outstanding charges.

On average, officers seize an illegal firearm every 36 hours.

Between January to September 2023, Peel Regional Police seized 84 illegal firearms. During the same period in 2024 there has been 157 illegal guns seized.  This is an 86 % increase year over year.

While these numbers may appear high, Peel Region continues to be one of the safest communities in the country.  We will continue to dedicate officers and resources to combatting violence and criminality in our community.
