Additional Charges Laid in Human Trafficking Investigation
Region of Peel – Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau’s Vice Team have laid additional charges in relation to a sex-trafficking investigation involving women in the Greater Toronto Area.
On July 18, 2024, 31-year-old Mohammed Karim Mohammed of Hamilton was charged with the following 8 Criminal Offences:
- Trafficking Persons Under 18 years old.
- Receive Benefit From Trafficking.
- Communicate For Sexual Service.
- Material Benefit Sex Services.
- Procuring Person Under 18 years old.
- Householder Permit Sexual Activity.
- Assault Cause Bodily Harm.
- Assault with Weapon.
On September 24, 2024, Mohammed was re-arrested after a second victim contacted police. It is alleged that the accused exercised control over numerous aspects of the victim’s life and forced her to perform sex while profiting from it. He has been charged with the following additional criminal offences:
- Procuring Person
- Exercise Control
- Assault
- Sexual Assault
- Assault With a Weapon
Mohammed remains in custody pending a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
