Update: Man Arrested in Hate-Motivated Investigation

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Airport Division, Criminal Investigation Bureau with the assistance of Toronto Police Service have executed the warrant for the 47-year-old man in a hate-motivated investigation.

On Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 2:30 p.m., the suspect in this incident was present at the Toronto Pearson Airport located on the arrivals level at 6310 Terminal Three Road in Mississauga. At that time, it is alleged, the suspect entered the Inter-Faith Prayer Room and began causing damage, which investigators have deemed a hate-motivated incident.

Investigators identified the suspect as Jean Francois Ouellette-Godin, a 47-year-old man of no fixed address, and a warrant for his arrest was issued for the charge of Mischief.

On April 2, 2021, the suspect was located and arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrant by the Toronto Police Service. Peel Regional Police was contacted and subsequently took over custody of the arrest. Jean-Francis Ouellette-Godin was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on June 7, 2021.
