Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Brampton Stabbing

Region of Peel – Investigators from 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a 27-year-old man with Attempted Murder in a Brampton stabbing incident.

On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the victim and suspect, who are not known to each other, were in a common area of a residential building in the area of Laurelcrest Street and Queen Street East in the City of Brampton. It is alleged that the suspect stabbed the victim and left the building.

First responders attended the scene and the victim was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. His condition has since stabilized and his injuries are now considered non-life-threatening.

Police located and arrested the suspect at a nearby residence in Brampton. As a result, Thain Bennett, a 27-year-old resident of the City of Hamilton, has been charged with Attempted Murder and subsequently had his statutory release revoked. He was held pending a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sunday, January 16, 2022.
