Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have charged two males in connection to a violent armed home invasion that occurred in Mississauga.

It is alleged that in the early afternoon of Monday, November 18, 2024, the victim, an adult woman, an addult nanny along with a small child were in a residence near Lakeshore Road and Lorne Park Road, Mississauga.  Two suspects, posing as local service employees, knocked on the front door, and the victim answered.  Following a short interaction, the suspects, armed with firearms, forced their way into the home and made demands for valuables.  The victim and nanny were bound and confined for the duration of the robbery until it was interrupted by a neighbour, and the suspects fled to a vehicle being operated by a third person.  Fortunately, the victim only sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the robbery, the child was uninjured.

As a result of a thorough investigation, police quickly identified two of the three suspects and moved swiftly to apprehend them.  On Thursday, November 21, 2024, investigators located one suspect in a federal parole facility in Toronto; the second was arrested a short time later in Mississauga; both suspects were held pending bail hearings and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

During the execution of three search warrants, police also located and seized offence-related property, stolen property, and narcotics.

Zain-Alaben Al-Khaleby, a 29-year-old male from Toronto has been charged with:

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Wearing a Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Opioid (X2)
  • Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order (X3)

At the time of his arrest, Al-Khaleby was an inmate on statutory release living in a federal parole facility in Toronto, serving the remainder of his four-year sentence following convictions for Firearms and robbery-related charges.  He was also bound by three separate weapons prohibition orders with conditions not to possess any weapons.

El Farough Salih, 27-year-old male from Mississauga, has been charged with:

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Failing to Comply with a Release Order (X3)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (X2)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (X3)

At the time of his arrest, Salih was bound by a release order in relation to several drug and firearms-related charges. Part of his release conditions required that Salih was subject to GPS monitoring.

This investigation remains ongoing, and police anticipate more charges could be laid.

“Once again, our investigators have arrested two offenders for their alleged involvement in violent crime.  Both accused were on judicial interim releases for robbery and firearm offences, showing a complete disregard for their court-appointed conditions or our community.  This is more evidence from our team that this will not be tolerated in Peel.” Peel Regional Police Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich
