Mississauga Man Charged with Numerous Crimes

Region of PeelInvestigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a man for numerous driving and property related offences.

On August 9, 2019, shortly after 9 p.m., Peel Regional Police received a call in regards to a suspicious cube van, which was later determined to be stolen, in the area of Britannia Road and Tomken Road in the City of Mississauga. The caller believed that the vehicle and its occupant were in the process of committing a break and enter to a commercial property.

As officers entered into the parking lot of the commercial property, the suspect entered the cube van and used it to ram a police car and escape onto the roadway. As the vehicle attempted to flee, a tire deflation device was used to successfully deflate the tires and a short distance later the cube van came to a stop as it could no longer be driven. The suspect was taken into custody without any further incident.

As a result, a 26-year-old man from Mississauga was charged with the following offences:

1)      Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

2)      Flight from Peace Officer

3)      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

4)      Fail to Comply with Recognizance

5)      Possession of a Controlled Substance

6)      Possession of a Controlled Substance

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on August 10, 2019.
