Public Assistance Needed in Attempt Murder Investigation

Region of Peel – It’s been over a year, and investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau are still actively trying to locate and seek the public’s assistance to find a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, numerous firearm offences, and drug trafficking offences. 

On February 3, 2022, Peel Regional Police attended the area of Queen Street East and Rutherford Road in the City of Brampton for a shooting. An adult male victim was located suffering from gunshot wounds, resulting in serious but non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police started an investigation dubbed Project Journey into this targeted shooting. To date, six individuals have been arrested related to the investigation. Search warrants have been executed in multiple jurisdictions across the GTA. The investigation has led to the seizure of five firearms, 10 kilograms of methamphetamine, and significant quantities of Fentanyl and Cocaine. 

A Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of 33-year-old Nakeem Jamar Johnson has been issued for the following offences:

  • Attempt Murder
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder
  • Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (X2)
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession (X4)
  • Possesssion of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm (X4)
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device (X44)

He is described as male, black, 5’6” in height, 160 pounds, short black hair, black beard, and has brown eyes.

Nakeem Jamar Johnson is considered armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach and call 911 immediately.
