Traffic Stop Leads to Firearm Seizure

Region of Peel – The Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (S.T.E.P) team located a loaded firearm and laid numerous firearm-related charges following an investigation involving a man who fled a traffic stop in the City of Mississauga.

On Saturday Feb. 22, 2025, Officers from the S.T.E.P team were conducting proactive patrol in the area of Derry Road East and Torbram Road. Officers initiated a traffic stop where the suspect vehicle fled.

After a thorough investigation on Monday March 24, 2025, a 34-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman from Pickering were arrested. During the investigation, officers located and seized a loaded Springfield XD (.45 Cal) handgun and brass knuckles.

Investigators charged Maurice Glasgow-Oliver with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm.
  • Possession of a loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition x2
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order x2
  • Possession of weapon
  • Flight from Police

Rosa Santillan was charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Possession of a loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Both individuals were held pending a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
