Historical Missing Person

Region of Peel –  Investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking assistance from the community in locating or providing information about a man who was reported missing on August 28, 2013.

Cyril "Sonny" Thistle, who identifies as Indigenous, was last seen in 1981 by family members near McLaughlin Road and Queen Street East in the City of Brampton.

In 1981 he was 26 years old and described as male, white, fair complexion, light brown hair, a thick mustache, and he had a gap between his top two front teeth. Cyril was transient between the City of Toronto and the Region of Peel. He was known to have resided in Saskatchewan and Sudbury before 1980. There is a handwritten letter associated with Cyril, dated April 1981.

A composite sketch of what Cyril may look like today has been recently developed to generate further investigative leads into his disappearance.

Officers from the 22 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau, along with family members, have conducted an exhaustive investigation into the disappearance of Cyril Thistle.
