Children who live with learning disabilities not only share the dreams and joys with all children, they have the same career aspirations too. Thanks to the efforts of the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel, local special needs children are encouraged to promote positive social behaviours, foster their self-awareness and maintain a positive outlook.

During the summer, the Learning Disabilities Association of Peel hosts Kidz Konnect Summer Camp. It provides a positive camp experience for kids, allowing them to take part in many activities while getting involved with community partners.

Our Peel Regional Police K9 unit had the pleasure of meeting these great kids and giving them an inside look into the world of what it’s like to be a part of a great team. The kids met both the handlers as well as their police service dogs. The officers shared training techniques and let the kids share in an interactive activity, which gave them the opportunity to put on a real police vest and part of a bite suit.

The knowledge shared with the kids will be an experience they will never forget!
