Traffic Stop Leads To Seizure of Firearm and Drugs

Region of Peel – Officers from 11 Division have charged a man with drug and firearms-related offences during a traffic stop in Mississauga.

On Thursday, August 6, 2020, at approximately 2:30 p.m., uniform officers investigated a vehicle in the area of Hurontario Street and King Street West in the City of Mississauga.    

The driver was investigated, arrested, and officers located and seized a loaded firearm, drugs, and cash. The gun had an extended magazine with 20 bullets in it.  

Jacob Baird, an 18-year-old man from Mississauga, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

1)      Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

2)      Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon

3)      Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

4)      Possession for the Purpose (Xanax)

5)      Possession for the Purpose (Cocaine)

6)      Driver vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

Baird was held for a bail hearing and will be transported to the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on August 7, 2020.
