Arrests Made in Connection to Local Jewelry Store Robberies

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have charged two individuals following an investigation into two separate Jewelry store robberies in Mississauga.

On August 26, 2024, at 3:15 p.m., three suspects attended a jewelry store in the area of Burnhamthorpe Road West and Erin Mills Parkway in Mississauga. The suspects entered the store with their faces concealed and began smashing display cases and removing various pieces of jewelry before fleeing the store.

On August 28, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., two of the same suspects attended the jewelry department of a store in the area of Erin Mills Parkway and Eglinton Avenue West in Mississauga. The suspects entered the store armed with a hammer and a firearm, and proceeded to smash the glass display cases, stealing multiple pieces of jewelry before fleeing the store.

Shortly after the second incident, investigators quickly tracked the suspects down and successfully arrested them in the City of Toronto. The suspects were located in a stolen vehicle and were in possession of property from the offences, as well as a replica firearm.

Ali-Cem Vural, a 19-year-old man from Woodbridge, along with one other young person, have both been charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Robbery
  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Wearing Disguise (X2)
  • Possession of Stolen Property (X3)

The suspects were held for bail hearings and appeared in Brampton Court to answer to the charges.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

This investigation remains ongoing, and police anticipate more charges could be laid.
