Traffic Stop Results in Loaded Firearm

Region of Peel – As a result of a traffic stop in Mississauga, officers in 12 Division located a loaded firearm, and with assistance from investigators with the Criminal Investigation Bureau, numerous firearms related charges have been laid.

On Thursday, January 20, 2022, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers were patrolling the area of Elia Avenue and Acorn Place in Mississauga when they conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle.

As a result of their investigation, officers located a loaded Glock 27 firearm and ammunition.

Leroy Brown, a 29-year-old man from the City of Toronto, is charged with the following offences: 

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition (x 2)
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number
  • Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop
  • Drive Under Suspension

Leroy Brown was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Friday, January 21, 2022.
