Preventing Crime, Protecting People

Posted On Monday November 04, 2019

As you may or may not know, the first week of November every year is devoted to Crime Prevention Week in Ontario. This year, Crime Prevention Week runs from November 3 – 9, 2019. Dedicating this week ensures that we have the opportunity to showcase the collaborative efforts between Peel Regional Police and community organizations. We are continually working towards achieving the common goal of preventing crime and creating a safe and resilient community.

Every year the theme is different and this year’s theme is “Preventing Crime, Protecting People.” Our community is at the heart of everything we do and Peel Regional Police strives to keep the community safe by working with the public. We all have a role to play.

Your Crime Prevention Team is armed with numerous tips designed to help keep you and your loved ones safe. Through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our YouTube channel during the course of the next week we’ll be releasing a daily video on a variety of topics from Vehicle Safety to Home and Cyber Safety, and so much more. We feel that these topics are vital to ensuring your safety and well-being.

If you are wanting to learn more sign up for the Crime Prevention Academy it is open to persons 18 years and older who either live or work in the Region of Peel.  The academy is delivered over four consecutive week nights and will teach attendees how to keep themselves, their loved ones, and their property safe. The academy is free of charge. Seating is limited and will be awarded on a first-come/first-serve basis. A certificate of achievement will be presented at the completion of all four sessions.
