Loaded Illegal Firearm Seized from Mississauga Man’s Home

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau - Guns and Gangs Unit arrested and charged a Mississauga man with allegedly having a loaded illegal firearm, prohibited ammunition and illegal drugs inside his Mississauga residence.

Investigators from the Specialized Enforcement Bureau Guns and Gangs Unit were involved in an ongoing firearms investigation. As a result, they executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant on September 27, 2022, at a residence in Mississauga.   

The following items were seized from the residence: 

  • A loaded Semi-automatic Glock 9mm handgun equipped with a laser sight, and extended magazine
  • A second magazine
  • A quantity of Canadian currency and drugs

Omari Robinson-Cooper, a 26-year-old man from Mississauga, was charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm   
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm  
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime  
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking   

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Addressing gun and gang violence is a priority issue of the Peel Regional Police Specialized Enforcement Bureau – Guns and Gangs teams. The team’s primary focus is intelligence gathering and enforcement of gun, gang and drug offences.
