Search Warrant Results in Firearm Seizure

Region of Peel – Officers from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have charged a Brampton man with firearm-related offences.

On Monday, March 20, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the victim, a 24-year-old man from Mississauga, was robbed of his property at gunpoint in the Dundas Street East and Hensall Circle area in Mississauga. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

Investigators identified the suspect as Carvel Purcell, a 35-year-old man from Brampton.

On Friday, March 24, 2023, officers from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, with the assistance of the Tactical Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Kennedy Road and Vodden Street East area in Brampton. As a result of the search warrant, a Glock 17, 9mm handgun was seized.

Carvel Purcell has been arrested and charged with robbery and numerous firearm-related offences.

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
