Loaded Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop

Region of Peel -  Investigators from the 12 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau charged a 22-year-old man from Nova Scotia with firearm-related offences.

On Sunday, March 26, 2023, at approximately 2:15 a.m., 12 Division uniformed officers were conducting stunt driving enforcement in Malton and stopped a vehicle near Derry Road and Cattrick Street.

Further investigation revealed the driver to be wanted by Toronto Police, and he was arrested on the strength of the warrant.

After a search incident to arrest, officers located and seized a loaded Glock handgun with a 26-round magazine and a quantity of drugs.

Kendall Saunders is charged with the following offences:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Speeding
  • Race of Motor Vehicle

He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
