Arrest Made in Human Trafficking Investigation

Region of Peel– Investigators from the Vice Unit have arrested and charged a 40 year-old man from Toronto in relation to a human trafficking investigation in the City of Mississauga.

In December 2019, an investigation began of a 17-year-old female victim who had been exploited in the sex trade over a two-month period. The suspect exercised control over all aspects of the victim’s life and profited as a result.

On Thursday, December 5th, 2019, Khumane Agil was charged with numerous offences including:

1)      Trafficking in Persons under 18
2)      Receiving Benefit resulting from Trafficking in Persons under 18
3)      Exercising Control Over a Prostitute under 18
4)      Deriving Benefit from Sexual Services under 18
5)      Assault
6)      Utter threats (X2)
7)      Robbery

Khumane Agil appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on Friday, December 6th, 2019.

Investigators from the Vice Unit believe there may be more victims and/or witnesses.
