Arrest Made After Fatal Fail to Remain Collision

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau, in partnership with the Provincial Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Unit (R.O.P.E.), have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man who fled from police and failed to remain at the scene of a fatal collision.

At the time of the incident, he was on a Canada-wide warrant for a parole violation and was unlawfully at large.

The fatal collision occurred on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Airport Road, near Morningstar Drive in the City of Mississauga, and involved a 2018 blue Mazda.

The victim, a 22-year-old woman from Mississauga, was riding a bicycle northbound on Airport Road when the Mazda allegedly struck her and fled the scene.

Officers located the vehicle unoccupied a short time later.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim was an exchange student studying in Canada for the last four months.

Investigators identified the driver as Traishaun Delpeache, and on Thursday, August 31, 2023, he was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death
  • Failure to Stop After Accident Causing Death 
  • Flight From Peace Officer 
  • Drive Motor Vehicle with Improper License

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton where he was remanded into custody until September 15, 2023.
