Loaded Firearm Seizure by S.T.E.P
Region of Peel - Officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (STEP) team located a loaded firearm and laid multiple firearm-related charges.
On June 22, 2024, officers from the STEP team investigated an individual in a vehicle in the area of Kennedy Road & Clarence Street in the City of Brampton. As a result of this investigation, a loaded EAA Windicator .357 Magnum revolver, ammunition and illicit drugs were located and seized.
Shailendra Sanichar, a 30-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was a Firearm
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
