Fraudulent Covid-19 Document

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Airport Division Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a man with allegedly using a fraudulent Covid-19 document arriving from an international flight at Toronto Pearson Airport.

On Sunday, March 21, 2021, at 4:00 p.m., police attended the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to assist. The CBSA officer was conducting an inspection check of various entry documents, including a negative Covid-19 document. It appeared to be fraudulent, and Public Health reviewed it.  

The 45-year-old man from Edmonton was arrested and charged for Unlawfully Did Knowingly Use a Forged Document. He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice on March 22, 2021, in Brampton. 

He was subsequently released from custody, with conditions, and returned to CBSA at Toronto Pearson Airport for processing by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
