New Details Released in Fatal Fail to Remain Investigation

Region of Peel– Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau have narrowed down the colour of the suspect vehicle involved in a fatal Fail to Remain collision in Mississauga that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old Markham man.

On Friday, December 17, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., the victim, Suresh Tharmakulasingam was crossing mid-block in a southward direction across Dundas Street, west of Dixie Road in Mississauga. Suresh had just left a restaurant and was attempting to walk back to his tractor trailer, which he had parked at a gas station across the road. As he reached the curb lane of eastbound traffic, he was struck by a 2008-2012 Black Ford Escape SUV.

The driver of this vehicle left the scene without stopping or rendering any assistance to the victim. The victim was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. On Friday, December 24, 2021, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Investigators are encouraging the driver to consult with a lawyer and turn themselves in to police.
