Arrest Made in Violent Home Invasion Spree

Region of Peel – Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have charged an individual in relation to a series of armed home invasion investigations.

On Nov. 13, 2024, at approximately 2:38 a.m., five suspects attended a residence near Dundas Street West and Mississauga Road in Mississauga. With their faces covered, they forced entry through the front door, stole the victim’s vehicle keys, and fled in the vehicle.

At approximately 3:45 a.m. the same day, the suspects forced entry into another residence near Countryside Drive and Goreway Drive in Brampton while the victims were sleeping. The suspects, with their faces concealed, stole several items before fleeing.

Later that morning, at approximately 6 a.m., the same suspects attended a residence near Major William Sharpe Drive and Flowertown Avenue in Brampton. They forced entry through the front door, confronted the victims on the second floor while armed with a firearm, demanded vehicle keys, and fled in the victim’s vehicle.

On April 17, 2025, following a lengthy investigation, Anestan Ganeshamoorthy, a 32-year-old male from Pickering, was identified as a suspect and arrested in Toronto. He has been charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Break and Enter ×2
  • Wear Disguise with Intent ×3
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order ×3

At the time of his arrest, Ganeshamoorthy was in custody for criminal charges after allegedly operating a stolen vehicle that caused a serious motor vehicle collision involving a Toronto Transit Commission bus in Toronto on Nov. 18, 2024. A total of nine people were injured as a result, including two sustaining life-threatening injuries.

He was also subject to a judicial release order related to similar criminal offences. He was held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, where he was remanded into custody pending a future bail hearing.

This investigation remains ongoing, and police anticipate more charges to be laid.
