File a Police Report Online

Online reporting provides a convenient way to report certain types of incidents. Online reports are NOT monitored 24/7. If this is an emergency or a crime in progress, call 9-1-1.


What to Know Before You File a Report

  • You must provide a valid email address and phone number. 

  • If you have photos or videos related to the incident, have them ready to share with the police. 

  • Incidents that took place outside of Mississauga or Brampton must be reported to the police service for that area. 

  • All information will be handled confidentially under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (S.C. 2000, c. 5) and the Act respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of personal information (R.S.Q., c. A-2.1). 

  • Incidents where the suspect(s) is known: If you know the name or address of the suspect, or the licence plate of the vehicle associated to the suspect
  • If there is evidence left at the scene
  • Any theft, loss or property damage exceeding $10,000
  • Theft of vehicle, licence plate or utility trailer
  • Theft (or loss) of firearm
  • Lost/stolen passports
  • Break and Enter (residential or commercial, including a parking garage)
  • Frauds
  • Personal violence (assault, robbery, etc.) or Intimate Partner Violence
  • Did this incident occur at the Toronto Pearson Airport? If so, please report it to the airport authorities.

  1. After submitting, you will see “Your online police report has been submitted.”

  1. You will receive an email with a TEMPORARY report number (i.e. T24000061).

  1. Reports are typically reviewed within 21 business days (may take longer during peak times). To inquire about your report, email OCRB-Team@peelpolice.ca and include your Temporary Report Number in the subject line.

  1. If more details are required, we will contact you. You have 30 days to respond. If the requested information is not received, your report will be closed (rejected) for lack of information.  

  1. Approved reports will receive a PERMANENT report number (i.e. PR26800001).

Has an unknown person taken your personal or work property without your permission?

  • Identification: driver’s licence, health card (in the report, list card value as $1.00 each)

  • Stolen Canadian Passports: Report in person to Peel Regional Police prior to contacting Service Canada 

  • Stolen Foreign Passports: Report in person to Peel Regional Police prior to contacting the Consulate or Embassy of the issuing country 

  • Unauthorized use of a credit card that was previously reported stolen. Instead, report this in person to Peel Regional Police Please present your PERMANENT or TEMPORARY report number

Shoplifting/Commercial Theft under $10,000

Has an unknown person taken your business goods without your permission or valid payment?

The theft incident occurred as I was working as the Assistant Store Manager for (Business Name) located at (Location) in the city of (Brampton or Mississauga).

On (Date) at approximately (Time) an unknown suspect attended (Business Name) and selected a boxed scooter of the sales floor. The suspect then carried the box and headed towards the exit doors, passing all last points of sale and made no attempts to pay for the unpaid merchandise. (Brief Description of Offence)

Theft of Gas

Has an unknown person taken fuel from a gas station without payment? You can report this, and the licence plate of the individual, online.

Driving away from a gas station without paying for the pumped fuel.

If the item was stolen from your business as a result of the suspect being there without your permission, or forcing their way in, please contact Peel Regional Police to file a Break and Enter Report.

On (Date), I was working as an attendant when a Gas Drive off/theft of gas (Offence) occurred at the gas station located at (Location) in the City of (Brampton or Mississauga).

At approximately (Time), a white Kia SUV, attended Pump #6 at above mentioned address.

The driver (Describe Gender – Male/Female/Other) Female exited the passenger side of the vehicle and proceeded to pump $100.00 of gas (Dollar Value). The passenger then placed the fuel nozzle back to its receptacle, and then left without making any attempt to pay for gas.

The vehicle licence plate is (Ontario Licence Plate and/or Other Province/State).

The suspect is described as: Age, Gender, Race (White, South Asian, East Asian, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, Latino, Black, Unknown), Complexion, Height, Hair Colour, Build, Clothing Description. There was also a passenger seated in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle (Describe Passenger).

Theft from Vehicle Under $10,000

Has an unknown person broken into your personal or business vehicle, which may or may not involve stolen property or damage to the vehicle? If someone has entered your vehicle without your permission and items were taken, use this report.

  • Personal or work items left in the vehicle such as identification, credit cards, debit cards, keys, cell phone, GPS, laptop, tools, briefcase, etc. (in the report, list card value as $1.00 each)
  • Vehicle parts or accessories such as a catalytic converter, air bag, mirror, hood ornament, car stereo, etc. 

On (Date) at approximately (Time), I parked my vehicle at (Location). On (Date) at approximately (Time), I returned to my vehicle and discovered that an unknown person (Suspect) had gained access to my (Locked/Unlocked) vehicle.

The unknown person stole approximately (Items/i.e. $20 in loose change, denominations, etc.) from (Location In Vehicle).

My vehicle is a (Year, Make, Model, 2/4 doors) with (i.e. Ontario) plates (Plate Number). The vehicle is valued at (Estimated Value).

My vehicle (Did/Did Not) sustain any damage because of this incident.

I watched the surveillance video, and the suspect is described as: Age, Gender, Race (White, South Asian, East Asian, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, Latino, Black, Unknown), Complexion, Height, Hair Colour, Build, Clothing Description. 

On (Date) at approximately (Time), I parked my vehicle at (location). On (Date) at approximately (Time), I returned to my vehicle and discovered that an unknown person (suspect) had damaged my vehicle.

The damage consisted of (Describe Damage). Upon further inspection, I discovered that (Items/Property) was stolen from (Location Inside Vehicle).

I have already itemized the stolen items and their value in the online report.

My vehicle is a (Year, Make, Model, 2/4 doors) with (i.e. Ontario) plates (Plate Number). The vehicle is valued at (Estimated Value).

Damage consists of a broken driver side window valued at approximately $300.00.

There is no video surveillance or suspect descriptors for this incident. 

Damage/Mischief to Property Under $10,000

Has an unknown person damaged, defaced or vandalized public or private property? Damage/Mischief to Property reports are for incidents of changing, modifying or defacing public or private property.

  • Breaking windows or mailboxes

I (Name) live at (Address Including City). On (Date) at approximately (Time) I heard a loud sound coming from the front of my house. I opened the front door and observed multiple eggshells on my front window and walkway.

After cleaning my window, I realized there was a small crack in the windowpane. The damage is estimated at (Dollar Value).

Damage/Mischief to Vehicle Under $10,000

Was your vehicle, whether parked or moving, damaged as a result of a collision with another vehicle, or do you suspect that another vehicle may have caused the damage?

Damage/Mischief to Vehicle reports are used when an unknown person vandalizes or damages your vehicle, if the damage was not caused by another vehicle.

  • Slashed tires 
  • Smashed windows or lights 
  • Scratches, dents or keying 
  • Defaced vehicle 

  • If damage/mischief was believed to be motivated by hate, file an Online Hate Motivated Incident Report. If property was stolen from the vehicle, file an Online Theft from Vehicle Report.
  • When a person opens their vehicle door and hits your parked vehicle, causing damage. This is considered a civil matter, and a police report is NOT required – contact your insurance provider to make a claim.
  • When a parked vehicle is struck by another vehicle and the driver leaves the scene of the incident, it is considered a Fail to Remain Collision. Report this in person at a Collision Reporting Centre.

On (Date) at approximately (Time) I parked my vehicle at my residence located at (Address). My vehicle is a 2020 Ford F150 pickup truck bearing Ontario licence plate (Licence Plate Number). I returned to my vehicle at approximately (Time) and that is when I observed my vehicle had been damaged by unknown suspect(s). My vehicle sustained damage consisting of a smashed rear driver’s side window which is estimated to be (Dollar Value of Damage). I have no suspect information or description.

On (Date) at approximately (Time) my vehicle was parked in my driveway located at (Address). On (Date) at approximately (Time), I attended my driveway and discovered that my vehicle had been damaged by an unknown suspect. The damage consisted of two broken side mirrors (Dollar Value of Damage), smashed windshield (Dollar Value of Damage) and a large scratch along the driver side of the vehicle (Dollar Value of Damage). My vehicle is a 2020 black Toyota Corolla four door with Ontario licence plate (Licence Plate Number) and is valued at approximately (Approximate Value of Vehicle). This incident was not captured on video surveillance and there are no suspect descriptors available (Include Suspect Descriptors If Available).

Driving Complaint/Road Watch

File a driving complaint about a specific driver and vehicle involved in dangerous or aggressive behaviour, or about an area where drivers frequently drive dangerously.

On (Date) at approximately (Time) I was driving my vehicle southbound on Erin Mills Parkway, City of Mississauga and I was stopped at a red light on Dundas Street west. I observed a Blue Honda Civic with Ontario Licence plate (Licence Plate Number) (Describe Suspect Vehicle) going Eastbound on Dundas Street swerving in and out of lanes and hitting the median curb as the vehicle approached Dundas Street West. The vehicle then turned Northbound on Fifth Line West and drove through the red light (Describe The Offence). The driver of the vehicle is described as: Age, Gender, Race (White, South Asian, East Asian, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, Latino, Black, Unknown), Complexion, Height, Hair Colour, Build, Clothing Description. 

On (Date) at approximately (Time), I was driving on Bovaird Drive East in the city of (Brampton or Mississauga). I was approaching Dixie Road when I observed an erratic driver. The Driver was travelling eastbound in the center lane when he began cutting off other motorists and tailgating. The driver is described as: Age, Gender, Race (White, South Asian, East Asian, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, Latino, Black, Unknown), Complexion, Height, Hair Colour, Build, Clothing Description. The vehicle was a black older model minivan (Detailed Description) with Ontario licence plate (Licence Plate Number).

Lost Property Under $10,000

Peel Regional Police will only accept Lost Property reports where the item has a serial number, engraving or identifiable markings. Lost Property reports are not actively investigated but are kept for Records purposes in the event the item is found and can be returned to the rightful owner.

Lost Property refers to an item accidentally misplaced or left behind.

  • Government Identification: driver’s license, health cards, SIN cards (in the report, list card value as $1.00 each)
  • Cell phone

  • Items with serial numbers, engraving or identifiable markings 

  • Lost passport photos, keys, money, clothing, eyeglasses etc.

  • Lost credit cards, bank cards, membership cards, rewards cards, etc. It is your responsibility to cancel your cards with the right institution. 
  • Lost parking permits

On (Date) at approximately (Time), I was at (Location/Address). At that time, I left my (Property Description and Description of Where It Was Left).

When I arrived home, I realized I had lost my property. The lost property includes (Property Description).

Hate Motivated Incident/Crime

A Hate Incident involves biased or prejudiced behavior that does not meet the threshold of a criminal offence. These incidents may include hateful overtones but cannot be proven to be motivated by hate or bias under the law. 

Example: A neighbor makes a racially offensive remark during an argument, but no criminal offence occurs.

  • Incidents where the suspect is known 
  • Damage or mischief believed to be motivated by hate 
  • Incidents that are in progress

On (Date) at approximately (Time), I was at a store waiting in line to check out when I noticed someone staring at me and they appeared to be angry. Then out of nowhere, they said “Go back to your country”. I did not respond and proceeded to move to another cashier. The person was wearing a gray shirt with black pants.

On (Date) at approximately (Time), I was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Hurontario Road and Derry Road West, when suddenly a Red Honda Accord stopped next to me and started to yell at me about my driving and told me to “Go back where you come from and learn how to drive before coming here”.

Hate Crime is a criminal act against a person or property that is motivated, in whole or in part, by hate, bias or prejudice. This includes colour, race, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or mental or physical disability. Example: Graffiti with hateful symbols or messages or damage to property motivated by hate.

If you have been a victim of a hate crime:

  • Call 9-1-1 if there is immediate danger and the crime is in progress.
  • For non-emergency related crimes, call 905-453-3311.

Update/Cancel an Existing Online Report

Use this online report type if you have already filed an online report and you need to update or cancel it. 

  • You want to add new information that could help with the investigation of a report you submitted online.
  • You found the property that you had reported as lost or stolen.
  • You were able to obtain security footage of the incident and would like to add that to your report. 
  • You want to cancel your existing report.

Your Temporary (ie: T24001234) or Permanent (ie: PR24803456) number is required.
