Task 5 : Internet Safety Post-Assessment

In this culminating activity, students will be evaluated on their knowledge of the Internet Safety rules discussed in the unit.

Students will be required to

  1. Write and perform a brief dramatic presentation that incorporates the main rules of Internet Safety:
    • Never, under any circumstances, reveal personal information.
    • Never agree to meet in person, an individual met on the Internet.
    • If you see or read anything that upsets you or makes you feel uncomfortable, leave the site immediately and inform an adult.
    • Communicate with your parents about what you are doing on the Internet.
    • If you are responsible for the care of other children who have access to the Internet, make sure that you are supervising their activities online.
  2. View and evaluate the performance of at least two of the presentations prepared by their peers. Results may be included as part of the assessment for the Health and Safety Curriculum.
  3. Distribute a new copy of Before the Web and allow students the opportunity to independently complete the assessment tool once again. Record the results on the tracking sheet provided, and compare results to pre-assessment at beginning of unit. Submit assessment results to police officer who visited the school.
