Our objective is to assist in the identification of persons responsible for the commission of offences through the lawful collection, analysis and preservation of physical evidence for presentation in a court of law.
We also provide ongoing training to members of the Peel Regional Police in relation to the preservation of crime scenes and forensic issues.
Forensic Identification Services will be purchasing an Automated Fingerprint Identification System that will be compatible with the changing technology. The purchase will include the acquisition of either a Livescan or Cardscan device that will allow the Peel Regional Police to submit fingerprints to the RCMP in an electronic format, and thus improve the search capabilities of the A.F.I.S. system. The Digital Mugshot System will also be upgraded to allow for integration with other computer systems.
