Distraction Theft Suspects Sought
Peel Crime Stoppers would like to make residents aware of Distraction Thefts that have recently surfaced in adjacent Regions.
The scam involves male and female suspects asking victims for directions. They place a map over the victim’s wallet, or purse, asking them to point out the directions, thereby giving the thieves an opportunity to steal their property unobserved.
The female suspect is described as white, 30 to 40 years of age, with a slim build. She stands about 5’7” to 5’8” tall, with dark hair and a European accent.
The male suspect is also 30 to 40 years of age. He is white and stands approximately 5’6” to 5’7” tall, has dark hair and a European accent.
Detectives of the Peel Regional Police Fraud Bureau are concerned that these suspects may start targeting seniors in malls and other shopping areas within Peel Region.
