Crime of the Week - Mississauga
Release #: 2008 - 08a
MAN GUNNED DOWN ON MISSISSAUGA STREET
Peel Regional Police Homicide Detectives are hoping that the witnesses they believe saw the getaway vehicle fleeing the scene of Saturday’s early-morning murder will call Crime Stoppers with information.
On Saturday, March 15, 2008, at approximately 3:00 am, uniform officers attended to the area of Brandon Gate Drive and Rockhill Road, in response to a report of possible shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers located 47 year-old Winston WATSON suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim was shot multiple times by the lone suspect, and the investigation has revealed that he was confronted by the suspect while walking home in a westerly direction on Brandon Gate Drive, in front of St. Gabriel Adult Learning Center. The suspect then ran a short distance to a silver or grey car, which was waiting on Rockhill Road, facing the wrong direction. The vehicle then sped off aggressively, turning right to go east on Brandon Gate Drive. At that time, a second eastbound vehicle came to a stop at that intersection and the occupant(s) would have observed the getaway car. Investigators are hoping that these witnesses will come forward with information.
